If you don’t know the writings of Courtney Clark Kendrick, aka cjane, then I have to ask what rock you’ve been living under. She writes 3 blogs, but her most famous is cjane: Enjoy It. I’ve been a loyal reader for over a year and a half and it is her blog that inspired me to take mine to the next level of writing. She’s probably been THE most influential blogger for me.

As Courtney is preparing for the birth of her second child any day now, she decided to take the week off writing and instead asked several of the men in her life to guest post on a variety of birth/pregnancy-related topics. They range from humorous to poignant. So yes, I’m highlighting a blogger but actually linking to posts by other people. Courtney’s brother, Christopher Clark, kicked off the week with Taking Care of Your Wife in Labor. Tuesday brought Supporting Your Wife Through Adoption by Jeremy “MD” Kendrick. Next came a post by Courtney’s friend Waldo Galan: Taking Care of Your Wife Through Infertility. Thursday was Supporting Your Wife in the Grieving Process by Darin Eckton. Last but not least is Jim Rowberry’s essay, How to Love Your Wife During the Postpartum Phase.

(And if you’ve got extra time on your hands, check out my very favorite post of hers, about breastfeeding and the last time she nursed her son: Mammorial Day Part 2.)

For My Central Ohio Readers

This post is particularly for my friends in Central Ohio.

Shortly before I left for college, the Williams family moved into my church group (Pickerington Ward, for those in the area). I’ve gotten to know their daughter Alli better over the past year or two, as she and I have sons close in age and many mutual friends.

Last week I learned that the family patriarch, Jay, was just diagnosed with advanced colon cancer. It has spread to his abdominal muscle, liver, and one of his lungs. Jay and his wife, Susan, and are in the process of moving to Utah and he’ll be receiving treatment there. But, as many of you know, chemotherapy and surgery are not cheap. I’m blogging today to let those of you locals know about a charity event being held to raise money to help with the bills.

When: Friday, April 23rd
Time: 5:30 – 8:00 pm
Address: 642 Theron Drive, Pickerington, 43147

There will a hot dog cookout, bake sale, inflatable play area for the kids, and a silent auction full of all kinds of great prizes (seriously…I’ve heard some of the stuff that’s being donated and it’s awesome!). So, if you’re looking for something fun to do with your family next Friday night, please consider stopping by the benefit!

If you’re interested in reading more about their journey to beat cancer, you can follow them on Facebook or check out their blog, Driving Into Life. (The blog features writing by both Jay and Susan.)

Thank you.
