Introducing the Big Boy Bed

I don’t know why, maybe it was because M. tried climbing out of his crib for the upteenth time during a particularly bad tantrum on Friday night, but I asked him if he wanted a big boy bed like Mommy and Daddy and he said yes, so we took him at his word. I mean, I wasn’t even sure if he understood what I was asking but Mark and I had been hemming and hawing over the best time to introduce the toddler bed so why not just go for it? By Saturday night Mark had set up the bed in M’s room, right by his crib. I think M. would have slept in the bed too, but I wanted to see how he handled sleeping there during the day first, when I’d actually be awake.

At nap time yesterday Mark put all of M’s many blankies and stuffed animals into the bed and M eagerly climbed in. He was asleep within 10 minutes (putting him down for nap an hour late probably had something to do with that). He did wake up partway through his nap, as usual, but just head-banged himself back to sleep. Surprisingly, he didn’t even get out of bed when he finished his nap; he screamed and head-banged till I came to get him.

So, we felt comfortable letting him sleep in his big boy bed Sunday night when he picked it over sleeping in his crib. I was not expecting the transition to be this easy! I’m still a little skeptical; we’ll see how today goes, but so far, so good!!!

Friday Favorites

Welcome to Friday Favorites! If you’re new to the blog, here’s how to play along. Every Friday I devote my post to showcasing awesome blog posts by other bloggers that I’ve read over the past week or two. I invite you to do the same and link up here, OR just link up directly to those posts you’ve loved this week. This is any easy way to share the love and find great new blogs.

A little late in posting today, sorry!

Today’s featured post is Learn First Aid NOW! by Brandee of Chill, Mama, Chill. It’s her PSA to parents to take a CPR course. After reading her story, I definitely need to make time for Mark and me to do that!
