The time has come. Menininho has finally hit 20 lbs. Because of my heart and back problems, my doctors told me before I became pregnant that once my future baby hit 20 lbs I’d no longer be allowed to carry him. This doesn’t mean I can’t do the day to day lifting into the crib, putting him into the car, etc., but I should let Mark do those things when possible and I can not wear Menininho anymore. I’m already missing it, and I hope someday to be able to wear another baby. I feel very grateful that I was able to carry my son for so long!

Ode to Babywearing

Awww! First of all, the photos are wonderful. Meninho has such a great smile. And you – you are just glowing! I love your positive outlook. If it were me, I probably would’ve ranted about the end of babywearing. You treeated this as an ode to something you had the privilige of doing. I really like that about you. Thanks for the subtle reminder that every moment I have with my child, everything I’m able to do or not do for her is a blessing.
Great post. As usual.

What a gorgeous baby; I can see why you’d be sad to stop wearing him. I wish you both the best!

This post is lovely, and bittersweet. I’m glad, at least, that you have so many photos of your babywearing days. I’m sure that those will be precious to you as you move on to the next chapter.

Stopping by to say “Hi” via SITS though I’ve visited before!
Great pictures. I don’t think I have about that many of me and my little one since her birth. I always seem to be behind the camera.
I never babywore (is that a word) with my oldest but tried in the beginning with my youngest. She hated for the first 3-4 months. Now, we are both fans. I would have never thought I’d be this breastfeeding, babywearer (again, is that a word).
He is a cutie!

I’m sorry you’re having to give up babywearing… my daughter lived first in her sling, then in her Baby Bjorn for much of her first year. But once she hit about 15 pounds, I simply wasn’t strong enough to lug her around like that– so congrats on making it all the way up to 20 pounds– you’re a champ!

Babywearing is something I am realy looking forward to, I am sad you are no longer able to do this. However at least the little guy stayed under 20 pounds for a decent amount of time, allowing you to enjoy!

Maya, thank you for entering the giveaway at Typing One Handed.
I love your photos! I love wearing my baby, and will miss it terribly when my baby becomes too big. I hope too that you will someday have another baby to wear. That closeness is amazing.
